Skin Challenge: Uneven Skin Tone & Sun Damage

Unless you’ve been diligent about using sunscreen, even as a child, you likely have sun damage. Sadly, by age 18 the damage is done, even though you will not see the effects until your thirties and forties. When we refer to uneven or blotchy skin, it is almost always due to sun exposure and not taking proper care of the skin. As we continue to age the accumulative damage becomes more apparent resulting in brown spots (hyper-pigmentation), dilated/broken capillaries (Telangiectasia), dull tired-looking skin, premature aging and even skin cancer.

Whether your sun damage is mild to severe, being able to even out your skin tone can be a real confidence booster — and our Natural Cover Cream foundation is ideal for evening out skin tone. Here are a few tips:

  • The better condition your skin is in (moisturized, hydrated, and exfoliated), the better your makeup will look.
  • Start with an emollient moisturizer (one that doesn’t absorb too quickly) and follow with our Perfecting Primer.
  • Apply your makeup while your moisturizer and Perfecting Primer are still wet.
  • Because the effects of sun damage and resulting uneven skin tone can likely be seen all over your face, it’s best to use Natural Cover Cream all over, too — as a light foundation. Natural Cover Cream will even out your skin tone, and then you can apply additional foundation with your fingertip or a concealing brush on any areas that require more coverage.
  • Finish with our Performing Powder (loose or pressed), dusting over your skin until it’s dry to the touch.
  • If you like a dewy, supple look, spritz your face with our Hydrating Mist after you powder.
